Presentation of the Latvian Association of Labour Safety Specialists (LDASA)

The Latvian Association of Labour Safety Specialists (LDASA) was officially registered in the Register of Associations and Foundations on 10 June 2005.

LDASA aims to unite occupational safety and health specialists, comprising both individuals and organizations, whose activities focus on creating and ensuring a safe and healthy working environment in compliance with the laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia.

We provide comprehensive training for occupational safety and health professionals, including lecturers, trainers, program directors, and administrative staff across universities, vocational education and training (VET), continuing vocational education and training (CVET), adult education (ADU), and schools. Our outreach extends to specialists in the manufacturing sector, small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) representatives, and administrative personnel.

Core Tasks and Activities:

  1. Unification: To consolidate expertise among occupational safety and health specialists—both individuals and organizations—who are dedicated to fostering a safe and healthy work environment in alignment with Latvian regulatory requirements.
  2. Representation: To advocate for the legitimate interests of our members before governmental bodies, administrative institutions, and international organizations.
  3. Participation in EU Networks: To engage in labor protection organizations within the European Union, staying informed about relevant processes and sharing this information with our members.
  4. Networking: To represent the interests of our members in relations with other associations both in Latvia and abroad, ensuring that our members receive timely information from these organizations.
  5. Professional Development: To promote the continuous professional growth of occupational safety and health specialists by fostering collaboration between enterprises and educational institutions, and by contributing to vocational education and training programs for skilled workers.
  6. Event Organization: To organize exhibitions, educational events, and seminars, as well as to support our members in attending such events.
  7. Promotion of Best Practices: To uphold the integrity of health and safety science and practice by integrating the latest knowledge and methodologies aimed at improving workplace environments.

LDASA engages learners starting from the age of 18. Our extensive network positions us to effectively promote project initiatives, as we function as an umbrella organization uniting occupational safety and health (OSH) professionals and SME representatives, reaching over 1,000 professionals in total. While we serve various learner demographics, our primary target group consists of OSH professionals and educators within SMes, companies, universities, VET, CVET, ADU, and schools.

With a robust track record in Erasmus+ projects and active participation in Nordplus and various local initiatives, LDASA has significant experience in implementing projects across the VET, higher education (HE), ADU, and school sectors. Our thematic focus includes diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, accessibility, human rights, labor standards, digitalization, entrepreneurship, SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) targets, social justice, procurement, organizational culture, and workforce development. We are committed to formulating clear diversity statements that we integrate into our mission and member recruitment strategies. Locally, we are developing programs aimed at promoting and enhancing membership diversity while instilling confidence in the inclusivity of our diverse members.

LDASA is also dedicated to the environmental aspects of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria, particularly concerning broader environmental initiatives and workforce development, continuously seeking innovative solutions. Our organization boasts a staff with extensive expertise in organizing trainings, workshops, conferences, and local events, possessing diverse skills across areas such as human rights, project management, organizational culture, human resource development, media and communication, healthy lifestyles, leadership, entrepreneurship, intercultural dialogue, group decision-making, project evaluation, and team building.
